Held over one day and on a group basis (max 4) the pre  Level 2 course is ideal for those candidates who feel they are not quite ready to register for their  Level 2 e-portfolio.  Each candidate will be guided through the Level 2 e-portfolio process both in theory and practice.

Often candidates struggle with the procedures required after the deer is culled.  This course is designed to ensure the candidate is capable of producing high-quality carcasses that are fit for human consumption.

Topics covered include:

• Calibre and bullet choice
• Taking the shot
• Follow-up to shot
• Retrieval of carcase
• Gralloching
• Organ and lymph node recognition
• Diseases of deer and their recognition
• Transport and storage of carcasses
• Record-keeping

Duration:  1 day

Outcome:  The candidate is fully prepared for a Level 2 accredited witness outing and can recognise the necessary organs/lymph glands and meets the Level 2 criteria.

Certification:  A certificate of attendance is issued to each candidate

Test:  There is a knowledge test associated with this course.
